Netflix Welp, another batch of strangers just had elaborate wedding ceremonies on reality TV! Love Is Blind Season 11 dropped its finale, and we found out which couples got married. This year, John and Sarah ended up saying “I do” at the altar, but were these weddings actually legally binding, or did Netflix pull a Let’s Marry Harry and leave the paperwork out of it? About that...
They most certainly are. The couples are married by real officiants, and real paperwork is filed. Meaning, if things don’t work out they have to go through divorce proceedings just like any other couple. As creator Chris Coelen told Bustle in 2020 , "If they choose to get married, yes, it's a legally binding marriage."
Former cast member Lauren Speed also told Refinery29 that she and Cameron Hamilton “definitely did” get married, and that was the “part that was so scary for me. This is a real legally binding marriage. This is not for TV. This is our life."
In fact, the legitimacy of the Love Is Blind weddings is one of the ways the show gets spoiled. TMZ dug into marriage records and spoiled several weddings back in 2020, and fans on Reddit have also been known to sleuth.
According to The Tab , the same day as the wedding. The outlet reports that “it’s all done on the same day, often with a judge or ordained officiant present.”
Couples reportedly have to wait until 11 months after their wedding so that the show isn’t spoiled for viewers. As for who foots the bill, The Tab reports that production pays for up to $5,000 per couple for filings and mediation.
