Suspect arrested in downtown Reno US Bank robbery

Reno police arrested a man Thursday afternoon in connection with the robbery of a downtown U.S. Bank.

The 79-year-old suspect, Jack Van Eaton Jr., was arrested around 4 p.m. and charged with one count of robbery.

Officers originally responded around 10:40 a.m. to a reported robbery at the U.S. Bank at 300 S. Virginia St., where police said a suspect passed a note to bank employees.

Van Eaton Jr. was later located at the Fireside Inn on East Fourth Street with assistance from the FBI, where officers served a warrant and took him into custody without incident.
