NFC East power rankings at the midpoint of the NFL offseason

We have officially reached the midpoint of the NFL offseason. Fifteen Sundays have passed since the Super Bowl, and in another fifteen Sundays, we will kick off the regular season in Week 1. ThePhiladelphia Eagleshave important business to address at home against theWashington Commanders.

That will begin a long grind. 18 weeks. 17 games. Hopefully, that will qualify them for a postseason berth. There's much to iron out, though.OTAs begin for them on May 26. The Dallas Cowboys OTA dates are as follows: June 1-2, June 4, June 8-9, June 11. TheNew York Giantsbegan their session on May 19, kicking off three days of practice. They'll reconvene from May 27-29 and work from June 1-4. Eagles OTA dates are as follows: May 26-27, May 29, June 1-2, June 4. The Washington Commanders dates are as follows: May 27-29, June 2-4, June 9-11.

There will be plenty to talk about between now and their mandatory minicamp. In the meantime, here's a fun exercise. Here's how we rate the NFC East, having passed the midpoint of the 2026 offseason.

1. Philadelphia Eagles

This remains the division's gold standard until someone proves otherwise. Yes, roster debates happen on paper every spring. Yes, optimism exists in every building. None of that changes reality. Philadelphia is still the defending division champion and still boasts one of the NFL's most talented rosters.

Winning a third straight NFC East title won't come easily. It never does in this division. That said, no team enters the summer with a stronger claim to the top spot.

2.Dallas Cowboys

Dallas feels like the clearest threat. The offense has a chance to be explosive, possibly among the NFL’s very best. Hiring Christian Parker should also help stabilize a defense that badly needed fresh ideas.

If the Cowboys become even average defensively, they’ll win more games. Whether that’s enough to overtake Philadelphia is another conversation entirely.Their road seems tougher despite playing a second-place schedule.

3.New York Giants

Hiring John Harbaugh instantly raises this team's floor. Coaching matters, especially when competence replaces uncertainty. New York also has more talent than some realize.

The question is whether the roster is ready to accelerate immediately or if this remains a transitional season. Either way, this team feels tougher than it was a season ago.

4.Washington Commanders

Jayden Daniels gives Washington hope. Beyond that? There are questions. This roster felt old last season. Coordinator changes create uncertainty.

Drafting fresh talent helps, but they'll need more. Only six players were taken during the most recent NFL Draft. Asking this group to recreate an NFC Championship Game run feels ambitious.

They may be competitive. They probably aren’t ready to leapfrog anyone above them. Some may rank the Commanders ahead of the Giants, but it can also be argued that the floor is a more realistic set of circumstances.
