Storage Wars' Dave Hester is paying tribute to Darrell Sheetsafter his sudden death.
Officers found Sheets, 67, dead of an apparent suicide in a residence in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., at around 2 a.m. local time on Wednesday, the Lake Havasu City Police Department confirmed in a news release. An investigation is underway.
Hester, a 61-year-old business owner who starred alongside Sheets on the popular A&E treasure hunting series for more than a decade, reflected on his longtime castmate's legacy inan Instagram poston Thursday.
In a video, Hester explained that he'd seen "a bunch of silly, goofy stuff" online in the wake of Sheets' death, referring to allegations that the reality TV star had been bullied online.
"I know there was some stuff there about cyberbullying. I don't even know how that exists because I turn that type of stuff off," he said. "But I'm sure it's out there. And if it's happening, or happened, I hope that it gets taken care of the way it should be."
Sgt. Kyle Ridgway of the Lake Havasu City Police Department confirmed in a statement toEntertainment Weeklythat authorities are"aware of the cyberbullying accusations" surrounding Sheets' deathand that it is "part of the current active investigation."
Hester went on to describe Sheets as "family," even if he hadn't been an active member on the series since 2023. "He was a big part of the show for a long time," he said. "Storage Warshas a big family. They're still going and will keep going. And we'll stick together.”
He continued, “We all love Darrell Sheets. Even though he wasn't actively filming at the time, he's always there. Some of my best battles are with him. But, again, those will just be good memories."

Storage Warsfollows a group of professional treasure hunters who frequently clash in bidding wars over abandoned storage lockers. Hester, known for bidding on items by yelling "yup," often went toe-to-toe with Sheets during his time on the show.
"I hope the best for his family, and [that] everything and everybody's where they need to be — at peace," Hester concluded. "I hope he's in a better place. That's all I can say.”
A&E will also pay tribute to Sheets by including an "In Memoriam" card for him in the new episode ofStorage Wars,set to air this weekend.
The network will also broadcast a collection of classicStorage Warsepisodes featuring Sheets that will run for several hours.TMZwas the first to report the news.
"We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of ourStorage Warsfamily, Darrell 'The Gambler' Sheets," the network said in a statement to EW. “Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time."
