Rozonda "Chilli" Thomasis speaking out about making donations to campaigns linked to PresidentDonald Trump.
TheTLC singerspoke out Saturday, March 30, following aThe Independent reportearlier in the day that she made nearly $1,000 in donations to Trump's campaign in 2024. But the singer says she was misinformed about what she was donating to.
"I WANT TO BE CLEAR: I am not MAGA and do not support any of the many policies that are causing great harm to the American people," Chilli, 55, wrote onInstagram. "I made a mistake too many make: I did not read the fine print. I thought I was supporting causes against human trafficking and for veterans."
On Saturday, The Independent reported that a Rozonda Thomas of Stone Mountain, Georgia, made donations to the Trump National Committee JFC (joint fundraising committee) and Never Surrender Inc., a political fundraising group linked to Trump, according to Federal Election Commission records reviewed by the outlet.
Chilli said that her dad is a veteran and "everyone knows I love children."
She added, "I have learned a valuable lesson and ask for grace as I navigate this."

The report comes weeks after she faced backlash for allegedly resharing a conspiracy theory aboutMichelle Obamabeing transgender.
In a video accompanying the post, she said what has been "circulating on the internet" has been "very concerning." She added that she had "no clue" she reposted the claim and didn't find out until she started receiving texts and phone calls.
"I have the utmost respect and admiration for Michelle Obama, and I would never say or do anything that is disrespectful to her or to any woman," she said in the video.
